What is an automated receipt parser?
An automated receipt parser uses AI and OCR to read receipt PDFs, scans, or photos and extract merchant name, address, date, time, payment method, subtotal, tax, tip, total, and item rows (description, quantity, and amount) into Excel, CSV, or JSON without manual expense entry.
Can PerfectParser handle handwritten receipts?
PerfectParser extracts from receipt PDFs, scans, and photos, including crumpled or faded thermal prints. Accuracy depends on how readable the text is. It is not a dedicated handwriting engine, and it does not correct photo perspective.
How do I export the extracted receipt data?
Extracted receipt data can be downloaded as CSV, Excel, or JSON for import into QuickBooks, Xero, or your expense tracker. Webhooks and Zapier are also supported.
Does PerfectParser work with multi-currency receipts?
Amounts are extracted as numbers. Currency is not in the default schema. Add a currency field if the code or symbol prints on your receipts. PerfectParser does not convert currencies.
Can I process receipts in bulk for expense reporting?
Yes. Upload a batch of receipt PDFs, scans, or photos. PerfectParser returns consolidated structured data ready for month-end expense reports.
What receipt fields can PerfectParser extract?
The default schema extracts merchant name, merchant address, transaction date, transaction time, payment method, subtotal, tax amount, tip amount, total amount, and an items table with description, quantity, and amount. Add receipt number, currency, discounts, or tax rate to your schema if those values print on your receipts.
Can PerfectParser replace manual expense report creation?
Yes. Extract merchant, date, amounts, tip, and payment method from every receipt, then export Excel or CSV for your finance team or accounting software. PerfectParser does not build the expense report or categorize spend automatically.
Can I extract credit notes or delivery receipts with this parser?
Yes. PerfectParser is schema-driven, so credit notes and delivery receipts work the same way as receipts. Add the fields those documents print (credit note number and original invoice, or shipped quantities and PO), or generate a schema from a sample. You can reuse this parser if the fields overlap, or create a new parser with its own schema. PerfectParser does not detect document type automatically in a mixed batch.
